Composite bonding is often described as 'edge bonding' and involves the addition of white filling material to one or more teeth to improve the shape / size.
It is a very quick procedure and can be done in one visit. It involves no drilling of your tooth and no numbing injections. It is a fantastic subtle way to transform your smile! It is the perfect way to correct uneven edges and add extra length to a tooth.
It is a common treatment when refining and perfecting you teeth after braces!
Typically edge bonding will last 3 -5 years but the lifespan will depend on many factors including the way your teeth bite and any habits you may have (e.g. biting nails).
The shade of the while filling material will be matched to your natural tooth. So it is very common for patients to whiten their teeth prior to bonding to enhance the brightness and improve the overall colour. We can discuss whitening options with you at your consultation!
If you are generally happy with the colour and shape of your teeth then a minimal amount of edge bonding is the ideal solution. It is also perfect for after braces to finish off your perfect new smile! If you want to correct minor misalignment (without braces) or completely change the colour and shape of a tooth then veneers may be more suitable.
